Wine industry entrepreneur Dave Phinney produced 385 cases of his Prisoner Red Wine Blend in 2000. His trend setting, unique, Zinfandel based blend grew in popularity, quickly reaching cult status, and by 2008, 85,000 cases of Prisoner were produced. Phinney sold the Prisoner brand to Huneeus Vintners in 2010 and it was subsequently acquired by Constellation Brands in 2016.
We will kick off the 2026 AWS-SMC tasting calendar with Darrell Freeze, Constellation Brands East Tennessee Account Manager. He will update us on today’s Prisoner Wine Company and introduce us to some of their other varietals. We will also learn about the current state of the Napa Valley wine industry.
